Plot summary
On July 1, 1981, Los Angeles police answer a distress call at a house on Wonderland Avenue in Laurel Canyon and find four people dead. The case pulls in John Holmes, a famous pornographic actor known as Johnny Wadd. Detectives Sam Nico and Louis Cruz question David Lind, a biker who rode with the group called the Wonderland Gang: Ron Launius and his wife Susan, Billy Deverell, Lind's girlfriend Barbara Richardson, and Joy Miller. Ron collects antique guns. Holmes knows the gangster Eddie Nash, and when the gang sends him to Nash with stolen guns to sell, Nash keeps them. Holmes, who owes the gang money, proposes robbing Nash's home and draws them a map.

- To tell the story as accurately as possible, director James Cox and producer Holly Weirsma tracked down the real Dawn Schiller and Sharon Holmes, who had become close friends after John Holmes's death in 1988 and acted as consultants for the film.
