Plot summary

Johnny Destiny, a bizarre figure who may be supernatural, finds a stranger stranded in the desert and drives him into Las Vegas in a hot Plymouth RoadRunner. The stranger is Julian Goddard, a bank robber newly out of prison, and Destiny delivers him to the Marilyn Motel. That motel belongs to Harry Thoreau, Julian's former partner in crime. Julian wants to put his life back together after prison, and he begins by looking for his girlfriend Lucille and for the money from the old heist. Around the city there have been strange electrical disturbances, and something keeps interfering with what he plans.
