Plot summary
Oscar Novak and Peter Steinberg, architects and business partners, are chosen by Chicago businessman Charles Newman to compete for a cultural center commission against their rivals Decker and Strauss. Newman takes the two men for a couple; Peter is gay, Oscar is not. Believing Oscar is gay too, Newman asks him to watch his mistress, Amy Post, and to keep her away from his wife, Olivia. Oscar is drawn to Amy at once, and she thinks he is gay as well, so he plays along to hold on to the job.
