Plot summary
Tyler Burnside is sixteen, a Boy Scout and a church volunteer in a small Kentucky town, and the son of Don Burnside, a community leader. More than a decade after the Clovehitch Killer bound and strangled ten known women and then vanished, the case is still unsolved. One night Tyler drives his father's truck to meet a girl, and she finds a bondage photograph hidden between the seats. When the story spreads through his church and scout troop, the other teenagers shun him. Tyler wonders whether his father is connected to the killings, and in Don's shed he finds a hidden compartment holding bondage magazines and a Polaroid of a beaten, bound woman. He asks Kassi, an outcast who studies the Clovehitch case, for help.
