Bert Remsen
Biography
Bert Remsen was an American actor and casting director with many film and television credits. Born in Glen Cove, New York, he worked in casting from 1966 to 1974, supervising a large number of television series and movies, among them episodes of The F.B.I. and The Rookies. Robert Altman brought him back to acting in 1970, hiring him to cast Brewster McCloud (1970) and talking him into taking a small role. Remsen went on to play character parts in several Altman pictures, including McCabe & Mrs. Miller (1971), California Split (1974), Thieves Like Us (1974) and Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson (1976). His other films included Places in the Heart (1984), Code of Silence (1985) and Only the Lonely (1991). On television he was a regular on Gibbsville and on the first season of It's a Living. He also played a judge in the 1993 pilot of The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
