Plot summary
Village Video is a Los Angeles rental shop inside a building that once was a movie theater, and Cosmo works its counter. He is taken with Belinda Watson, a customer who asks for foreign romance films as a break from Victor, her abusive boyfriend. His boss Georgie has him help build a display for Remote Control, a 1950s science fiction tape, with a mirror and a turning dish that broadcast a signal over and over. Victor argues with another customer, Allegra, over the store's last copy of that tape. When Allegra checks out, Victor reads her address off the store's computer. Cosmo talks Georgie into hand-delivering a tape Allegra had asked for.
