Kenneth McMillan
Biography
Kenneth McMillan was an American actor who took up acting at thirty, after jobs at Gimbels Department Store and training with Uta Hagen and Irene Dailey. Cast for his rough looks as gruff and hostile men, he also showed a gentler comic side. He made his film debut at forty-one in Serpico, then played a borough commander in The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974), a cowardly sheriff in Salem's Lot (1979), a racist fire chief in Ragtime (1981) and Baron Harkonnen in Dune (1984). Among his other films were Eyewitness (1981), The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984), Whose Life Is It Anyway? (1981) and the comedies Armed and Dangerous (1986) and Three Fugitives (1989). On television he played Jack Doyle on Rhoda, and on stage he performed at the New York Shakespeare Festival and in Broadway's Streamers and American Buffalo, winning an Obie for Weekends Like Other People.
