Amy Madigan
Biography
Amy Madigan is an American actress and singer who began in music, touring with rock bands in the 1970s and recording an album with the group Jelly before shifting to acting. Born in Chicago, she made her film debut in Love Child (1982), which brought a Golden Globe nomination for new star of the year. Her supporting turn in Twice in a Lifetime (1985) earned an Academy Award nomination. She went on to appear in films like Uncle Buck and Field of Dreams in 1989, then Pollock and Gone Baby Gone. On television, she won a Golden Globe and received an Emmy nomination for playing Sarah Weddington in Roe vs. Wade. Her stage work includes The Lucky Spot and a 1992 Broadway production of A Streetcar Named Desire. She won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for Weapons (2025).
