Plot summary
Amanda McCready, age four, is taken from the Dorchester apartment she lives in with her mother, Helene. Three days later, Amanda's aunt Bea and uncle Lionel pay Patrick Kenzie and Angie Gennaro, private detectives in missing persons, to add to the police effort. The pair talk with Boston detectives Remy Bressant and Nick Poole, who name a man known as a child molester and treat him as a suspect. Patrick and Angie also find that Helene and her boyfriend Ray are addicts who ran drugs for a Haitian drug lord and kept money that was his.
