Plot summary
Miguel Ramirez leaves Mexico to find work in the United States, and his father-in-law asks him to travel with Jose. The two men make their way onto an Arizona ranch, where Olivia McNary, whose husband Roy is a retired sheriff, offers them bottled water and a blanket before riding on. Olivia is thrown from her horse and dies. Roy arrives to see Miguel leading the animal away, and Miguel is arrested for her murder. Sheriff Randall Hunt tells Roy of the charge, but Roy is not satisfied and wants the case looked into further. Paulina, Miguel's pregnant wife, sets out for the United States and falls in with coyotes who lead a group across the border and hold them for ransom.
