Zak Santiago
Biography
Zak Santiago is a Canadian actor and DJ whose training began with classical piano, ballet, flamenco and boxing at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, followed by acting lessons in Vancouver and flamenco study in Madrid. His screen work is largely in television: he has appeared in Smallville, The L Word, Robson Arms, Flight 93, Shut Eye and Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, and in 2004 he played Dominguez in The Five People You Meet in Heaven. He appeared in The Eye (2008), took a lead part in The Assistants in 2009 and played the Ten of Clubs in the miniseries Alice. In the Signed, Sealed, Delivered series he plays Ramón Rodríguez, a dance teacher and DJ. He won a 2004 Leo award for his supporting work as Ramirez in Human Cargo and has also received Leo award nominations for his work on Young Blades, Random Acts of Romance and Christmas Princess.

Early training
During his formative years, Santiago studied at The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, where his training covered classical piano, ballet, flamenco and boxing.

Santiago was accepted into the Amor de Dios Academy in Madrid, Spain, in 2000. There he studied flamenco under several legends of the dance.
A change of course
In 1998, Zak Santiago stopped boxing as an amateur so that he could give all of his attention to dance.
