Plot summary
Sydney Wells is a violinist in Los Angeles who lost her sight at five, in an accident with firecrackers. A cornea transplant is meant to bring her vision back. What comes with her sight, though, are images of fire and of people dying, and she also sees the dead, among them a girl who walks right through her. Sydney is sure she is not going insane. Paul Faulkner, her visual therapist and a fellow violinist, is the one she works hardest to convince, and with his help she goes looking for whoever donated the corneas and for what the visions mean.
