Plot summary
Sandra and Beth live in a townhouse in the Toronto area with their mother Linda, who is 44 and drinks heavily, and with their younger brother Bobby, who is seven. The men Linda takes up with are abusive toward her and toward her children, in physical and sexual ways. Sandra is a high school senior; Beth is a year behind her, a junior. Neither can tolerate her mother's drinking any longer, and the sisters work out a plan to kill her. In their thinking, they would move in with friends afterward and live on the money from Linda's life insurance. Justin and Ashley, two of their friends, are asked to book a table at a restaurant they like.
