Plot summary
Maria is a 60-year-old grandmother. She and her husband Bing left Hong Kong for Vancouver 39 years ago, hoping to give their children a better life. Her days have long centered on her husband and family. On Bing's 65th birthday, the accountant is summoned to a client and comes back late. The next morning Maria finds an orange thong in his pants. Unsure what to do, she begins to consider her own life and decides to seek work for financial independence. She soon learns her skills are outdated and office work is not open to her. She also becomes friendly with May, Anita and Su, three Cantonese women in the area.
