George Eastman
Biography
George Eastman was the stage name of Luigi Montefiori, an Italian actor and screenwriter who worked across many of the genre trends of Italian cinema and was most closely tied to director Joe D'Amato, for whom he acted and wrote. Born in Genoa, he moved to Rome, worked as a graphic designer and commercial artist, and trained at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia and with Alessandro Fersen. He took his anglicized name for villain parts in Spaghetti Westerns of the late 1960s and early 1970s, and played the heavy in The Call of the Wild (1972) opposite Charlton Heston. A familiar face in Italian B movies of the early 1980s, he was cast as a menace in science fiction films including Bronx Warriors, The New Barbarians, Endgame and After the Fall of New York, and played the monster in Antropophagus (1980). He was Goliath in King David (1985) and later wrote and directed Metamorphosis (1990).

Early training
After developing an interest in acting, Eastman trained under Alessandro Fersen and also attended the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, where Nanni Loy was his teacher.
Behind the camera
Eastman wrote and directed the 1990 science fiction film Metamorphosis, also known as DNA Formula Letale, which was produced by Joe D'Amato, and then quit acting to focus on screenwriting.
