Plot summary
Honey Fisher holds power in a small Western town that grew up around gold prospecting, and his gang has taken the leases on the richest ground by swindling, murder and terror. A state commissioner is coming to review those leases. Cat Stevens is wounded in an ambush while riding out of town with the deed to a prospector's claim, and he hides in a wagon of a traveling circus. The wagons are searched, and Thomas, a trapeze artist and former gunfighter, fights off the men. Cat takes Thomas to Hutch Bessy, who lives with a mute man called Baby Doll. Cat says the prospector Sharp needs help to keep Fisher off his claim, and Hutch reluctantly agrees to come along.
