Plot summary

Peter Houseman is a genetics professor at a private university. With Mike, a friend, and Willy, a younger colleague, he studies DNA and works on a serum that he says could stop aging and defeat death. A commission must review his repeated funding requests. Its members include Professor Lloyd, an older man who resents him, and Inspector Sally, toward whom Peter feels drawn at once. Faced with the panel's doubt, Peter decides to test the serum on himself.
