Laura Gemser

Laura Gemser is an actress born in Java, Indonesia, who grew up in Utrecht in the Netherlands. She trained in fashion design at an art school in Utrecht called Artibus, and first came to public notice through nude modeling for men's magazines in Belgium and the Netherlands. In the mid 1970s she moved to Italy and made her film debut in 1974, then drew wider attention with a small part as a masseuse in Emmanuelle II (1975). Her greatest cult following came from the Black Emanuelle series, erotic soft-core films usually directed by Joe D'Amato. She also appeared as the Divine One, a cult leader, in Love Camp (1981), as Indun, a sorceress, in Ator, the Fighting Eagle (1982), and as Lilith, a compassionate mutant telepath, in Endgame (1983), and worked on a few films as a costume designer before leaving the movie business in the early 1990s.
