Ivo Tonchev
Biography
Ivo Tonchev is a Bulgarian actor and singer who was born in Sofia into the family of Gena and Velko Tonchevs. As a schoolboy he joined the Gusla children's chorus, where singing became a passion, and at ten he took his first stage role in the musical Oliver Twist. He later studied in the earliest theatrical class for middle school pupils, run by the 4xS Theater, and at fifteen he was cast in his first film, Diary of a Madman, after the actor and director Marius Kurkinsky spotted him in the street. He then trained for four years at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts. Not long after graduating he appeared in Andrey Batashov's musical Rhythm, which the press praised and which ran for over four hundred performances. His international screen career began with background parts once Millennium Films opened at Nu Boyana Film Studios in Bulgaria.
