Basilisk: The Serpent King (2006) on Netflix

Plot summary

In ancient Libya, a king kept a basilisk, a snake-shaped dragon whose gaze turned people to stone. During a solar eclipse, a golden scepter petrified the beast as well, and it lay buried with several of its victims. Two thousand years later, the archaeologist Dr. Harrison 'Harry' McColl leads an expedition that digs them up. Tribal locals warn him to leave the find alone, but the artifacts and the bodies are shipped to his university museum in Colorado. There they are put on display during another eclipse, and the basilisk wakes. Harry and the people around him have to find a way to petrify the monster a second time.
