Plot summary
Yankee officials have taken over Colt Saunders's Texas town, and rustlers have been pulling horses off his ranch, the Bar S, while the foreman Innocencio Ortega and his five sons try to hold it together. When a Yankee insults Lorna Hunter, Colt intervenes; she steals nine hundred dollars from him, learns from her old employer, the saloon owner Ruby LaSalle, that he is a wealthy rancher, and returns the money to impress him. He marries her without knowing about her past in St. Louis. His brother Cinch, who lost an arm in a childhood accident, arrives asking for a share of the ranch, and Commissioner Harrison turns a tax law against the large spreads.
