Plot summary
Joe Baron is a police detective whose pay cannot support the way he and his wife Lisa live. Lisa is young and wealthy, and when the value of their stock dividends falls, Joe is short of ready cash while Lisa will not give up her comforts. Joe and his partner Pete are sent to look into a shooting at the home of Dr. Van Tilden, a wealthy physician who says he fired at an intruder. Inside the house they see a wall safe, and the wounded man, Phil Kenny, says he came for two bags holding $500,000, then passes Joe the safe's combination. That evening Pete tells Joe he wants a share, and the two work out a plan to take the doctor's money.
