Biography
Andrew Scott is an Irish actor who came to prominence as Jim Moriarty opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the BBC series Sherlock, a role that brought him the BAFTA Television Award for Best Supporting Actor. Born in Dublin, he made his film debut in Korea (1995) and built a stage career in London, winning a Laurence Olivier Award for A Girl in a Car with a Man and another for playing Garry Essendine in Present Laughter. On screen he has appeared in Pride (2014), Spectre (2015), Denial (2016), 1917 (2019), Catherine Called Birdy (2022) and Blue Moon (2025), and he was Golden Globe nominated for All of Us Strangers (2023) and for the series Ripley. He also earned Emmy nominations for Black Mirror: Smithereens and Ripley, and won a Critics' Choice award for Fleabag.
