Adam is a television screenwriter in London, living alone in a high-rise where few other flats are occupied. One evening his neighbor Harry, who has been drinking, asks to come in for the night, and Adam says no. Adam then travels out to the suburban house of his childhood, which stands empty, and there he meets his mother and father. They died in a car crash many years before, and they look the age they were then. He stays for dinner and agrees to come back. Returning to his flat, he meets Harry again by the lift and answers his interest. The two grow close. Harry says he feels far from his own relatives, and Adam speaks of his parents' death.
