William Fawcett
Biography
William Fawcett was an American character actor with hundreds of film and television credits. Born in High Forest in 1894, he worked as a professor of theater arts at Michigan State University before turning to acting at age 52. His first film role came in the 1946 film Stars Over Texas. He found steady work in serials, including Batman and Robin (1949), and in B movies such as The Neanderthal Man (1953). He also had small parts in major films. His best-known role was Pete Wilkey, the raspy-voiced housekeeper and ranch hand on the western TV series Fury from 1955 to 1960, appearing in all 116 episodes. He had roles in many other westerns, including The Roy Rogers Show, The Lone Ranger, and Gunsmoke. He died in 1974.
