Plot summary
In Gotham City, Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson lead double lives as Batman and Robin. Police Commissioner Jim Gordon asks the pair to help him find a Remote-Control machine, a stolen device built by the eccentric Professor Hammil with the aid of his valet, Carter. The machine works at a distance and takes command of vehicles and other machinery. The thief who took it is a hooded, cloaked man who calls himself The Wizard, and his identity is unknown. He is a black-hooded mastermind who uses the device to hold the city hostage and to set challenges for the masked vigilantes.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Batman and Robin (1949)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The serial was one of several Katzman productions that cut costs, according to historians Jim Harmon and Donald Glut: the Batman costume had a poorly fitting cowl, and the Robin costume added pink tights to cover the "hairy legs" of the actor and the stuntman.
- The Batmobile is again left out, and instead of the limousine the pair used in the first serial, Batman and Robin drive around in an ordinary 1949 Mercury.
