Jack Ingram

Biography

Jack Ingram was an American actor who appeared in a great many Westerns and serials between 1935 and 1966. Born in Frankfort, Illinois, he served in the U.S. Army in France, then set aside plans to study law and joined a traveling minstrel show; he also acted with stock theater companies before entering films. Ingram worked as a stuntman with horses and cars in the early 1930s, made his screen debut in a bit part in Westward Ho (1935), and earned his first film credit in the serial Zorro Rides Again (1937). He became a familiar face in chapter plays such as Superman (1948) and Atom Man vs. Superman (1950), and in Westerns including Sierra (1950), Lost in Alaska (1952) and Five Guns West (1955). A Big Hand for the Little Lady (1966) was among his last credits. He died in 1969.

Before turning to acting, Ingram abandoned plans to study law after his U.S. Army service in France and instead joined a traveling minstrel show.
