Ron Cook
Biography
Ron Cook is an English actor whose screen and stage work began in the 1970s. Born in South Shields, he moved to Coventry as a child and later trained at Rose Bruford College. In the theater, he appeared in the 1988 premiere of Timberlake Wertenbaker's Our Country's Good, and in 2000 he received a Laurence Olivier Award nomination for best supporting actor for Juno and the Paycock at the Donmar Warehouse. At the Donmar's West End season, he played Sir Toby Belch in Twelfth Night and took the role of Polonius in Hamlet. His film credits include Secrets & Lies (1996), Topsy-Turvy (1999), Chocolat (2000), 102 Dalmatians (2000), 24 Hour Party People (2002), and Thunderbirds (2004). On television he appeared in Dennis Potter's The Singing Detective, The Lost Prince, and Kenneth Williams: Fantabulosa!, and he played Napoleon Bonaparte in both Sharpe and Quills.
