Plot summary

The bridal magazine Confetti, run by Antoni Clarke and his chief editor Vivienne, launches a competition for the most original wedding. The winning couple takes a new house and a cover shoot. Three couples are chosen. Sam and Matt, old-fashioned romantics, want a wedding staged like a 1930s musical, though Sam can barely carry a tune. Isabelle and Josef, professional tennis players, plan a tennis-themed ceremony and are determined to win. Joanna and Michael, naturists, intend to marry with no clothes on, which Vivienne refuses to accept. The wedding planners Gregory and Archie serve all three couples. Sam's mother and sister push to take over her plans, and Matt's oldest friend and best man, Snoopy, resents her.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Confetti (2006)

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.

  • In an interview with The Guardian, Olivia Colman described the film as "horrible" and the "worst experience of my life", saying she felt betrayed by film-makers who had misled her about how much of her body would be seen in the final edit, and that she has since found it hard to trust people.
  • Robert Webb said he had a miserable time making the film and thought the finished film an underwhelming mess. On The Graham Norton Show he claimed the director had told him his genitals would be pixelated in the final film, and that he did not know until the screening that this was not the case.
  • Colman and Webb started legal proceedings against the film-makers, but abandoned them when the actors concluded it was too late and that the lengthy process would only prevent them from "pretending it didn't happen".
  • The film's script was entirely improvised, with the contestants followed in a fly-on-the-wall documentary style akin to The Office.
