Nella Walker
Biography
Nella Walker was an American actress and vaudeville performer whose career ran from the 1920s into the 1950s. Born and raised in Chicago, she moved from vaudeville into films by 1929, when her first screen role came in Tanned Legs, and she adapted easily to talking pictures. Her output was steady and heavy: ten films in 1931 alone, fifteen across 1932 and 1933, and twenty-three between 1935 and 1938, the largest of those parts being in Young Dr. Kildare opposite Lionel Barrymore and Lew Ayres. She was never a premier star, yet she kept landing substantial roles, and the 1940s brought thirty-seven more films from 1940 to 1947. After a pause she returned in Nancy Goes to Rio (1950) with Ann Sothern and Carmen Miranda, and her final screen part was in Sabrina (1954) with Humphrey Bogart and Audrey Hepburn.
