Biography

Morris Chestnut is an American actor who was born in Cerritos, California, and attended California State University, Northridge, where he studied drama and finance. He gained prominence in 1991 by playing Ricky Baker in Boyz n the Hood, following an early television part on Freddy's Nightmares. He went on to appear in features including Under Siege 2: Dark Territory (1995), G.I. Jane (1997), The Best Man (1999), The Brothers (2001), Two Can Play That Game (2001), Like Mike (2002), Ladder 49 (2004), The Game Plan (2007), The Call (2013), Kick-Ass 2 (2013), and The Best Man Holiday (2013). On television he played Ryan Nichols in V, Ike Prentiss in Nurse Jackie, the title role in Rosewood, Hakeem Rashad in Goliath, Barrett Cain in The Resident, and the title character in Watson. His work has earned seven NAACP Image Award nominations, with wins for Nurse Jackie and for The Best Man: The Final Chapters, plus a Hollywood Walk of Fame star.
