Plot summary
Jake Vig leads a crew of grifters: Gordo, Miles and Big Al. They swindle thousands from a mark named Lionel Dolby, then learn the money belongs to Winston King, a Los Angeles crime boss known as The King. When Big Al turns up dead, Jake offers to repay the debt by conning Morgan Price, a banker with ties to organized crime. Jake brings in an independent con artist named Lily, and The King insists that his man Lupus join the crew. The plan requires bribing a bank vice president to move money offshore. Special Agent Gunther Butan arrives in Los Angeles, determined to catch Jake, and pressures two corrupt police detectives, Omar Manzano and Lloyd Whitworth, to work for him.
