Plot summary
A New York pharmaceutical firm, Wexel Hall, funds a research team bound for the Borneo jungle. Gordon Mitchell, Dr. Jack Byron, Sam Rogers, Gail Stern, Cole Burris and Dr. Ben Douglas want to find Perrinnia immortalis, the Blood Orchid, a flower that the team believes can extend human life. Borneo is in its rainy season, so no boat is available, and the group pays Captain Bill Johnson and his partner Tran Wu to carry them upriver. Jack presses the guide to take a route he considers unsafe. Gail lands in the water, and a crocodile attacks her before Bill pulls her free. Their vessel is wrecked at a waterfall.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- When Anaconda 2 was being written by Rudy Gaines for a planned 2001 release, original Anaconda stars Jennifer Lopez and Ice Cube were not expected to return, because their salaries had tripled since the first film.
- The film takes place on Borneo, but real anacondas are native to South America and not to Asia, so the snakes of the title do not actually live where the story puts them.
