Plot summary
Leah Vaughn works as a lobbyist in Los Angeles and has been with Dave King for years. Dave will not agree to marriage and children, so the two separate. Leah buries herself in work until she meets Carter Duncan, an IT specialist, first at a coffee shop and then again at a bar. A relationship begins, and Carter makes an easy impression on her friends. He travels with her to San Francisco to meet her parents, where he takes her father to a baseball game. On the drive home, a stranger at a gas station admires Carter's car, and Carter beats him. Leah ends things. Carter then calls her constantly and follows her at work and at home.
