Michael Eklund

Biography

Michael Eklund is a Canadian actor whose characters tend to be villains and antiheroes, often described as creepy. Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, he fell for movies as a child and studied painting in Calgary before moving to Vancouver to act, and his first television role came in 2000 on Dark Angel. He went on to guest spots on Stargate SG-1, Battlestar Galactica and Smallville and played narcotics detective Rene Desjardins on Intelligence from 2005 to 2007. Later television work includes the serial killer Barton Mathis on Arrow, Zane Morgan on Bates Motel and Bobo Del Rey on Wynonna Earp. His films include 88 Minutes (2007), The Divide (2011), The Day (2011) and The Call (2013), plus Gunless (2010). He won a 2008 Leo Award for Walk All Over Me, a Fantastic Fest Best Actor prize for Errors of the Human Body and a 2015 UBCPA/ACTRA Best Actor award for Eadweard.
