Plot summary
Nuclear blasts devastate New York City, and the residents of an apartment building race downstairs, pushed into the basement by the explosions that follow. Eight of them force their way into the bomb shelter before Mickey, the building's superintendent, seals the door. The group inside is Eva and her boyfriend Sam, the brothers Josh and Adrien, Bobby, Delvin, and Marilyn with her daughter Wendi. The room is cramped, and Mickey takes charge, rationing the water and the supplies and asserting his authority over everyone in it. Josh, Bobby and Delvin bristle at that, and friction builds in the shelter as the days pass.
