Lesley-Anne Down
Biography
Lesley-Anne Down is a British actress and singer who began acting as a teenager and made her film debut in the drama The Smashing Bird I Used to Know (1969). She appeared in Countess Dracula (1971) and From Beyond the Grave (1974) before landing her breakthrough role as Georgina Worsley in the period drama series Upstairs, Downstairs. Hollywood followed, with parts in The Pink Panther Strikes Again (1976), A Little Night Music (1977), The First Great Train Robbery (1978), Hanover Street (1979), Rough Cut (1980), Sphinx (1981) and Nomads (1986). On television she starred in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1982), Murder Is Easy (1982) and as Madeline Fabray in the miniseries North and South, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination in 1986. She went on to roles in Dallas, Sunset Beach and The Bold and the Beautiful, and later appeared in Death Wish V: The Face of Death (1994) and Reagan (2024).

Lesley-Anne Down wrote the screenplay for the 2006 comedy-drama Seven Days of Grace and starred in it, with filming having begun on 17 March 1996, ten years before the film's eventual release.

Down's career breakthrough was Upstairs, Downstairs. Once that show finished in 1975, she went to Hollywood and started working in films.

In 1996, Aaron Spelling gave Lesley-Anne Down the role of Olivia Richards on Sunset Beach, his new daytime soap opera. The character combined Sue Ellen Ewing and Alexis Colby from 1980s prime time soaps.

Down co-wrote the script for Gates of Darkness, a horror film she appeared in during 2019. She had also appeared in the romantic comedy Alex & the List in 2018.
