Plot summary
A prominent businessman is found murdered in Milwaukee, and the case falls to Paul Fein, a veteran police inspector whose family works in law enforcement: his eldest son Ben is a senior detective, his younger son Eddie serves in the patrol bureau, and his daughter Kate works as a public defender. The suspects narrow to two people, the dead man's wife, Anna, and Jackie, Paul's own daughter. Paul, Ben and Eddie will not accept that Jackie could have killed him, and Paul offers himself as a decoy to draw out whatever Anna may know about her husband's death.
