Plot summary
Erica Baron, a dedicated Egyptologist, has long planned a trip to Egypt for research on a paper about the chief architect who served Pharaoh Seti. Soon after she reaches Cairo, she witnesses the murder of Abdu-Hamdi, an unscrupulous dealer in art. Yvon Mageot, a French journalist, becomes an acquaintance, and she is befriended by Akmed Khazzan, who leads the United Nations antiquities division.
