Plot summary
In fifteenth-century Paris during the reign of Louis XI, Quasimodo is the deformed bell ringer of Notre Dame. He falls in love with Esmeralda, a beautiful gypsy dancer, but she loves Captain Phoebus. Quasimodo's guardian, Archdeacon Frollo, also becomes obsessed with Esmeralda and tries to force her under his spell. She rejects him. A poor street poet also adores her.
