Douglas Kennedy
Biography
Douglas Kennedy was an American actor who worked in films from 1935 to 1973, accumulating over 190 screen credits. Born in New York City, he made his debut in 1935 and became a contract player, first with Paramount Pictures and then with Warner Brothers. He built a career as a character actor and occasional leading man, though his service in the U.S. Army during World War II interrupted his work. After returning, he specialized in supporting parts, frequently western villains or territorial marshals, and sometimes took isolated leads in low-budget productions. He appeared in the science fiction film Invaders from Mars (1953), playing one of the policemen who disappears. On television, he headlined Steve Donovan, Western Marshal and later played Sheriff Fred Madden on The Big Valley. He also appeared in several Perry Mason episodes and, in 1973, in Hawaii Five-O.
