Plot summary
Sheriff Bull Harper has captured Comanche Todd, a white man adopted and raised by Comanches, and is bringing him in to stand trial for the killing of the sheriff's three brothers. The two travel with a wagon train commanded by Colonel Normand, whose people are divided over the way the sheriff treats his prisoner. Jenny and her young brother Billy are among the travelers, and Billy is drawn to the captive. Apaches attack the camp, leaving only a few alive, and Todd is left chained to a wagon that goes over a cliff. Jenny and Billy climb down a ledge with a rope to reach him. The Apaches are gathering to avenge a slaughter of their women and children by whites, and Todd sets out to lead the survivors to safety.
