Plot summary
A murder leaves a witness who tells the police she will never forget the killer's face. Mob attorney Walter Colby works for crime boss Hap Richie, who calls him at night to arrange bail for the hood Caesar. Colby then tells his girlfriend, the showgirl Flaxy Martin, that he wants to leave the syndicate and become respectable. She rejects the idea, saying he lacks the money for such a life. Hap uses Flaxy to bring in a perjurer, Peggy Farrar, to testify for Caesar, and afterward Peggy tries to blackmail Hap. Flaxy confronts Peggy at her hotel apartment, and a desk clerk takes notice. When Flaxy is accused of the crime, she turns to Colby, who decides to confess to the crime himself in order to clear her.
