Plot summary
Kip Davis, Charlie Burns and Lee Price own the Three Bell ranch in Texas. The guerrilla raider Luke Cottrell burns the ranch and drives the three men out of Edenton, where Kip's fiancée Deborah Miller pleads with them to stay. The partners vow to find Cottrell and head south. In Brownsville, Lee enlists in the Confederate Army while Kip and Charlie set out to rebuild the ranch. Rouge de Lisle, a lounge singer, pays them fifty dollars to haul a box of furniture; the box holds firearms, and Kip is arrested. Rouge then offers him work smuggling guns for the Confederacy, and he agrees, hoping the money will restore the ranch.
