Biography
Bruce Payne is an English actor, producer, screenwriter and director, born in Addlestone and trained at London's Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, graduating in 1981 with seven major prizes. He became known for playing villains, among them Charles Rane in Passenger 57 (1992), Jacob Kell in Highlander: Endgame (2000) and Damodar in Dungeons & Dragons (2000) and Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God (2005). He took the singing and dancing part of Flight Sergeant Kevin Cartwright in Privates on Parade (1983), having already played it on stage, and he also appeared in The Keep (1983), Absolute Beginners (1986), Switch (1991) as the Devil, Full Eclipse (1993), Prowl (2010), Getaway (2013), Vendetta (2013), Re-Kill (2015) and Creators: The Past (2019), which he also produced. In the late 1980s he was grouped with the Brit Pack of rising British actors, and in 2019 he was nominated for best actor at the FANtastic Horror Film Festival for Acid Pit Stop.

Early training
Payne was accepted into the RADA acting program, and he graduated from RADA in 1981. He earned seven major prizes there for acting, comedy and physical presence.
Early training
In 1980, RADA's principal chose a Macbeth scene co-written by Payne and Paul McGann to perform for Queen Elizabeth II. Payne directed and played Macbeth, using a baseball bat instead of a sword.
A first
In 2005, Payne played Damodar again in Dungeons & Dragons: Wrath of the Dragon God. Of the original cast, he was the only one in the sequel.
