Plot summary
The desert town of Canton Bluff takes in Ian Richards, a drifter hiding a werewolf curse. He repairs the church for the pastor, Dewey, and grows close to Dewey's daughter, Elizabeth. A traveling circus reaches town, and Ian takes Elizabeth to the freakshow of its owner, R.B. Harker, whose exhibits include Harker's assistant Bellamey, who bites off the heads of live chickens, Toones, who has dwarfism and an extra arm, Toones's partner Carl, a lounge singer billed as Carlotta, and Winston, shown as the alligator boy because of his Ichthyosis. Ian wants to leave town before the full moon rises.
