Biography

Viveca Lindfors was a Swedish-American actress. Born in Uppsala and trained at the Royal Dramatic Training Academy in Stockholm, she became a star in Swedish theater and film. After Warner Bros. signed her, she went to the United States in 1946 and made more than 100 films, among them Dark City (1950), King of Kings (1961), Creepshow (1982), The Sure Thing (1985), and Stargate (1994). On Broadway in 1952 she appeared in I've Got Sixpence. Television work kept her busy as a guest star, and she took the title part in a miniseries, Frankenstein's Aunt. She won an Emmy in 1990 for Life Goes On and was nominated in 1978 for A Question of Guilt. In 1962 she shared the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival for No Exit. She later taught acting at Manhattan's School of Visual Arts and played a lead in Last Summer in the Hamptons (1995).
