Tony Goldwyn
Biography
Tony Goldwyn is an American actor and director who started out in guest roles during the mid-1980s after training at drama school. He made his film debut as Darren in Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI (1986) and broke through as Carl Bruner in Ghost (1990), a part that earned him a Saturn Award nomination. He played Harold Nixon in Nixon (1995) and Neil Armstrong in the miniseries From the Earth to the Moon (1998), and he voiced the title role in the animated Tarzan (1999). Later film work includes The Last Samurai (2003), The Last House on the Left (2009), Divergent (2014) and King Richard (2021). He starred as President Fitzgerald Grant III on Scandal from 2012 to 2018, directed episodes of that series and won a Peabody Award, and he joined Law & Order in 2024 as the district attorney Nicholas Baxter. He directed four features, among them A Walk on the Moon and Conviction.

Big break
Goldwyn's breakthrough came as Carl Bruner in the fantasy thriller Ghost, playing the friend who betrays Sam Wheat, Patrick Swayze's character. The film earned the most of any released in 1990 and was 1991's most rented videocassette.
