Tom Noonan
Biography
Tom Noonan was an American actor, director and screenwriter who started in the theater, taking a role in the original Off-Broadway run of Sam Shepard's Buried Child, before moving into film in the 1980s. Born in Greenwich, Connecticut, he had an imposing presence that led to his being cast as menacing villains. He played Francis Dollarhyde in Manhunter (1986), the Frankenstein monster in The Monster Squad (1987), Cain in RoboCop 2 (1990), The Ripper in Last Action Hero (1993) and Kelso in Heat (1995), and later appeared as Sammy Barnathan in Synecdoche, New York (2008) and Mr. Ulman in The House of the Devil (2009). He also wrote and directed plays and films, and his debut feature, What Happened Was... (1994), won Sundance's Dramatic Grand Jury Prize and its screenwriting award. He voiced the supporting characters in Anomalisa (2015).

Noonan never acted as a kid and never did school plays. He did not act until he was 27, and he said you learn a lot in front of people when you have a crowd going.

In 2015, Noonan provided the voices for every supporting character in Anomalisa, the stop-motion comedy-drama by Duke Johnson and Charlie Kaufman, and won the San Diego Film Critics Society Award for Best Supporting Actor.
