Plot summary
In the South Bronx, Jeri Dawn carries groceries home and passes a man in the lobby of her building. Upstairs her husband Jack, who keeps the books for a New York mob family, is waiting. A contract has been put on Jack and his household because he has been passing information to the FBI. Their neighbor Gloria Swenson, once the girlfriend of the gangster Tony Tanzini, comes to the door to borrow coffee. Jeri tells her a hit is coming and asks her to protect the children. Gloria says she does not care for kids, then gives in. The daughter, Joan, locks herself in the bathroom and will not come out. While the family works to get her free, Gloria carries the youngest, Phil, and a ledger that implicates the mob across the hall to her own rooms.

- Child actor John Adames won the first ever Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actor for playing Phil Dawn in Gloria, sharing the inaugural award with Laurence Olivier, who was cited for The Jazz Singer.
